Description

Set Sail With Us

for two days this summer when the sun is shining and the campus is warm and beautiful. New Student Orientation’s early preparation and more personal approach to academic life at Tyler Junior College eases the new student’s transition from high school to college. Take placement tests, meet an academic advisor and select classes for the fall semester. In addition, learn about the TJC Honors Program, the philosophy of the college, as well as many services offered.

Families are also encouraged to attend New Student Orientation. Their sessions help encourage their students to become even more successful in the Honors Program. Parents will have the opportunity to meet Honors Program staff and faculty, find out about Honors Housing and extracurricular opportunities, and learn about how to help their student thrive in Honors.

This summer session is required for all students entering the TJC Honors Program and has a limited enrollment. Spaces are filled on a first-come first-served basis.

Do I stay overnight on campus?

On-campus housing is provided for the evening. All students are encouraged to stay overnight in a residence hall, but not required. You will need to bring your own linens, towels, toiletries, shower curtain, toilet tissue, alarm clock, etc., for the overnight stay. There is not a price difference in the registration fee if a student prefers to stay off campus. Parents are not allowed to stay on campus during orientation.

Note: Your overnight stay for summer orientation is not related to any application for residence hall living for the coming year. If you’re interested in living on campus, contact the Residential Life & Housing office for application information at 903-510-2345. The Honors Living & learning Community fills quickly, so apply soon.
